About Amakuru (How’s Life?) and supporting Msaada, Rwanda
Msaada assists the people of Rwanda to restore their dignity and their livelihoods that were destroyed during the horrific genocide in 1994 by establishing self-help income-generated projects.
Msaada funds agricultural projects that assist widows and orphans of the genocide to become self-sufficient.
Msaada supports profit-making projects in Rwanda, run by Rwandans themselves that fund a range of physical and psychological care and legal advice to widows and orphans still suffering from injustice and trauma after the dreadful events of 1994, and primary, secondary, vocational and university education for the children who were orphaned by the genocide and have no means of support.
Msaada involves the people themselves in solving their own problems and is guided by their capacity, skills, experience and vision.

Through Msaada’s schools exchange programme we encourage understanding and co-operation between the youth of the UK and Rwanda, as well as raising awareness among communities in the UK of the evils of genocide and how they can assist those who have suffered it to overcome the dreadful consequences.

Please visit their website to see the great work they do.
This is a rare one-off event, in the fantastic grounds of Arundel Castle, on the VW Calendar and you might want to know a little more about it. Whether you are interested to find out what we are trying to achieve with the event or you are hoping to get involved in some way, and I could do with some help, please take a look at the links for Msaada. If there is anything you want to ask please contact me, Suzy Willis on 01903 884004 or admin@amakuruvdubshow.co.uk
How this all came about...
by Suzy Willis
My business partner is a fervent supporter and Trustee of Msaada and has been involved both in fund raising in the UK and “getting his hands dirty” in Rwanda, since 2006. Despite the demands of business, he has devoted a colossal amount of time and energy to the charity. As a result of his commitment, I felt that I too wanted to do what I could to make a fundamental difference to those widows and orphans who, through no fault of their own, find themselves confronted with major challenges in just surviving, let alone living as we know it. By the time this show opens on 2nd September 2011, I will have been to Rwanda to see for myself the nature of the challenges that confront the Rwandan people and to meet widows, who are survivors of the genocide and children who were orphaned by the horrific events of 1994. I will also spend time with Odette Kayirere, herself a survivor, who runs the charity in Rwanda and who was recently awarded the Guardian International Development Achievement Award for 2010 and whose continuing enthusiasm and energy inspires me to try and achieve so much more in my life.
I have so enjoyed going to VW Shows over the past year with my award winning VW T4 van, (sorry to all the Classic Van owners – yes a T4) I thought it would be a great idea to put on a show in my home town for all to enjoy. So please book and help me make the show a success for a truly inspiring cause. All types of VW’s welcome, new and old, restored and others. Van and cars, we do not discriminate just as long as they are VDub’s! We have to have some rules; we are a VDub show after all!
Tickets are available now and remember - it’s all for charity!
